Overspeed penalties in Hungary.

Our strong recommendation to use the application WAZE always while driving.
This is a free navigaton app, and much more: the users are allowed to mark
temporary police cameras, and they do it very actively. In addition, the app includes the locations
of fixed cameras. If you use WAZE continously, the app will
warn you with english speech ("POLICE CONTROL AHEAD", "DANGER AHEAD")
for fixed speed cameras 500 meter before, and also warn you for the
temporary police controls marked by other WAZE users. This app is not 100% guarantee that you avoid
all speed controls, but it gives you a really high protection from speed penalty.
In Hungary, there are over 100.000 users - Wazers, at the same moment who use it and
post in real-time what they see on the roads. In addition, Waze monitors the traffic speed and density of
Waze users, and recognizes traffic jams ahead of you, and gives you warning about accidents and other dangers,
offering rescue alternate roads, until you even can change road at all. Waze can be your best friend while
driving, activate Waze always after you start your engine, with full volume level of your phone.

Speed camera penalty amount is NON-NEGOTIABLE.
Total cameras in Budapest: 220 pcs
Total cameras in Hungary main roads: 450 pcs
Overspeed penalty must be paid 8 days after police releases the
letter of notice: we contact you, with camera photo evidence.
In case if you refuse the penalty payment, we obliged to share your
personal data (name, address, photo of driving license) with the police.

The most dangerous roads with fixed camera: all incoming and outgoing roads to Budapest HAVE cameras,
as all highway roads which lead to Budapest: you may drive on Highway with 130 km/h, but you see speed tables 100 - 70 - 50:

You may feel yourself still in highway as the road have 3 lines, but the most of cameras installed to 50 km/h zone:


These are on fixed grey racks, and working 0-24h, dark night, fog, rain, snow no problem, high tech system cameras.



KEEP THE SPEED LIMITS ! IF YOU REACH CITY, SPEED LIMIT IS 50 KM/H !




Parking in Budapest BY CAR:
In hot zones, always must buy ticket, when park on street, everywhere ! See yellow parts.
(very similar in other big cities as SZEGED, or PECS, city center parking is always payable.




if you stay in Budapest only, you must consider that Budapest CENTER is not car-friendly.
You must buy everywhere parking ticket.
Of course, you can use the very good Budapest public transport,
or alternatively we can offer you scooter or motorcycle rent. Scooters and motorcycles are allowed to
park FREE OF CHARGE on the pavement, legally.
To rent scooters or motorcycles, you need to provide driving license category "A".
We supply 2x helmets, included in price.


You must find the parking ticket machine, even if you dont see it, go and find....

Put coin, press green button. Machine will print the ticket.
The ticket writes the time until you can park.
Put and leave the ticket behind the windscreen, GOOD VISIBLE POSITION.
If the time run out, you must buy new ticket!



In case if you dont buy ticket, you will see the penalty package on
your windsreen. Never throw out, make photo, and send to us.
Penalty value is 10-30 EUR, in case if it is paid in the first 5 days:
After, penalty goes up, 60-90 EUR. So its critical to send us asap.





POLICE PENALTIES:

There are serious penalties if you dont keep signs on street.

01: obligatory direction - click enlarge




In this case sign show you to drive allowed only straight,
so illegal to turn right or left.
Camera isrecording 0-24h, penalty level is 165 EUR, non-negotiable.



02: Disabled parking

In this case is very simple, controller or camera recording, penalty level is 165 EUR, non-negotiable.

03: restricted area

In this case camera is recording, penalty level is 100-150 EUR, non-negotiable.
ESSENTIALLY, IN BUDAPEST 5TH DISTRICT, THERE ARE SUCH STREETS WHICH
ARE FULLY ILLEGAL TO DRIVE, EXCEPT FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS. AVOID TO GO TO
5TH DISCTRICT BY CAR !!!

Even if you see other cars parking, when you see this sign, avoid to go inside,
its surely illegal area for you. The cars you see there are owned by
local residents, they have special drive-in permission.



04: illegal parking

In this case you parked on restricted parking zone. The police locks down the wheel, dont
try to drive away, and dont try to remove lock yourself. They also put a sticker
on the side window of the car with a phone number. They speak english.
You have to call the number, tell your location, and ask them to come and
remove the wheel lock. The price is approx 50-100 EUR.
To attemt to remove the lock on your own is a criminal act, dont do that.


05: illegal parking on dangerous area

In this case you parked on restricted parking zone where you blocked the way of bus, fire rescue, ambulance, etc.
The police deliver away the car to the next police parking station. They also put a red sticker
on the close surface, with phone number and address. The parking station personell speak english.
You shall go to that address and pay penalty to get the car. The price is approx 100-150 EUR.

SUBJECT: HOW WE MEET AT AIRPORT?

Option #1: if you are able to contact us SMS or Whatsapp, after your landing:
first of all, dont worry, we come for you, you dont have
to take taxi, or walk long way. Read below:

We will monitor your arrival online.

After you landed and you are able to contact us, sms, call or Whatsapp, you can
inform us, when you have your luggage.

Our waiting point is 2km from Airport, because the parking is not allowed there over 5 minutes.

After you informed us that passport control and luggage receipt is finished,
we drive exactly to your terminal exit.
We send the car plate and car picture, so you will recognise us immediately.

Dont forget, maximum waiting time 5 minutes at terminal exit,
so after you informed us about your free exit, you have to walk out
of terminal and wait us.

Thereafter we will finish paperwork in Mcdonalds parking in few minutes and you can go to your way.

Alternatively, we show you whereto buy Hungary Vodafone SIM card, which is 1 minute from Mcdonalds parking.

Option #2: if you are NOT ABLE to contact us SMS or Whatsapp, after your landing:

It is always possible, that you run out of battery, you loose your phone,
or simply your roaming is not working.
In this case, we cannot call you, and you cannot call us.

Dont panic, there is a solution for this case too.

After your plane landed, we will see, that you can receive or not sms or whatsapp message.
In case if we experience, that you are not able to receive messages,
we will wait exactly 60 minutes, and thereafter one of our personell will go to this point:
- terminal 2B - exit area - right side - SPAR grocery shop, ATM.
